Celebrate the Year of St. Joseph

The Year of St. Joseph will take place in the Diocese of Charlotte from January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020. Below is a list of events taking place to celebrate the Guardian and Protector of the Holy Catholic Church. Mark your calendars and get involved!

January 1, 2020Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God
Kick-off Mass at Cathedral of St. Patrick with Bishop Peter Jugis
Bishop Jugis will offer the 9:00am Mass & announce 2020 as the Year of St. Joseph
January 5-12, 2020Solemnity of the Epiphany
Sacred art featuring St. Joseph displayed via digital projection mapping onto the Diocesan Pastoral Center

March 19, 2020Solemnity of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary
All parishes are encouraged to have a feast day Mass in honor of St. Joseph.

7:00pm: Outdoor Mass on the new seminary campus. Rain or shine. Arrive early, seating and parking is limited.
May 2, 2020Inaugural Open House Celebration
Open house / tours at the newly-built St. Joseph College Seminary.

10:00am – 4:00pm: Rain or shine. Seminarian-led tours through building. Food trucks on campus from 11am – 3pm to purchase lunch.
10:00am: Liturgical Procession around the campus
12:00pm: Group recitation of the Holy Rosary

4:00pm: Solemn Vespers with Seminarians
June 13, 2020Catholic speaker event on St. Joseph
Mariology professor Dr. Mark Miravalle will give a morning & evening talk on St. Joseph at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church followed by the parish Fatima procession
10:00am: Holy Mass
11:00am: First Talk: St. Joseph, Husband of Mary
5:30pm: Vigil Mass
6:30pm: Second Talk: St. Joseph, Patron of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart
7:30pm: Candlelight Fatima procession
Sept. 11 – 12, 2020Catholic speaker event on St. Joseph
Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, author of Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of our Spiritual Father, is scheduled to speak on St. Joseph at the 2020 Eucharistic Congress for the Diocese of Charlotte.
Nov. 7-13, 2020Diocesan Mission on St. Joseph
Preached by Fr. Joseph Sullivan of the Fathers of Mercy at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kernersville, NC, and St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, NC. Check back here for more locations and details coming soon.

Consecration to St. Joseph Study Group

Adult study group using Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of our Spiritual Father by Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC. Classes are Sunday mornings 10:15am – 11:30am from February 16 – March 22, 2020 at the Cathedral of St. Patrick Family Life Center. Find information here.

Campus Ministry

Catholic Campus Ministry at UNC- Asheville during the Spring 2020 semester will offer devotional prayers to St Joseph following every Sunday Mass and at every Wednesday night meeting, promote the devotion of the Cincture of St Joseph—especially as an aide to living lives of purity and chastity—make a pilgrimage journey to the Parish of St. Joseph in Byrson City in March, and start a Men’s Small Group on campus under the patronage of St Joseph.
