Year of St. Joseph Mission with the Fathers of Mercy

“Go to Joseph!”
Year of St. Joseph Mission

In 2020, The Fathers of Mercy preached a special Mission at three parish locations in honor of the the Diocese of Charlotte’s Year of St. Joseph.

Although this Mission has already happened, it’s been recorded for you to make a spiritual retreat at home to continue to celebrate the Holy See’s Year of St. Joseph. Find links to all the conferences below!

Who are the Fathers of Mercy?

PREACHING ROMAN CATHOLIC MISSIONS SINCE 1808

The Fathers of Mercy is a Congregation of Priests whose primary apostolate is preaching parish missions and retreats with an emphasis on the Spiritual Works of Mercy, the sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Confession, and the propagation of the Faith for the salvation of souls.

“We seek to inflame all the members of the parish with the Infinite Love of Almighty God, and to call them to receive the Merciful Love of the Heart of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

– Fathers of Mercy

The Mission services include a Eucharistic Holy Hour and preaching before the exposed Blessed Sacrament. The special theme for this Mission is the exemplary life and virtues of St. Joseph, the universal patron of the Holy Catholic Church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is also made available each evening of the Mission Conference.

Meet the Fathers of Mercy
Missionary Priests

Fr. Joseph Aytona, CPM

Fr. Joseph Aytona was born in 1981 in Los Angeles, California and grew up in the suburbs of Southern California. In 2003, Fr. Joseph joined the Congregation of the Fathers of Mercy and was ordained to the Priesthood in May 2010. He is a 2010 graduate of Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, a Master of Divinity Degree, and a Master of Arts in Theology.

Along with being the Mission Director, Fr. Joseph is the founder of the Spiritual Motherhood Sodality as well as the founder of Family Vocation Ministries, an apostolate that promotes vocations through the sanctification of families. He has appeared on “EWTN Live” and “Life on the Rock” Catholic programs during which he discussed the importance of the Eucharist, the Priesthood, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. He has also been interviewed by Catholic Newspapers and Periodicals such as the National Catholic Register and Religious Life Magazine.

Fr. Ricardo Pineda, CPM

Fr. Ricardo Pineda was born on August 4, 1987, into a Catholic family of both Salvadoran and Mexican descent. He is the fourth of five children, and a native of San Diego, California. Following high school, he attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. While in studies at Notre Dame, he played trumpet in the marching Band of the Fighting Irish. In May of 2008, he graduated from Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and a minor in Theology.

Fr. Ricardo began hearing a call to the priesthood as early as age 6, but it was not until his freshmen year of high school that he began serious discernment of his vocation in prayer. This discernment continued throughout high school and college. After learning more about the vocation to priesthood as well as the vocation to marriage, he discovered that although the thought of marriage made him happy, he understood that he would be happier as a priest, serving God for the salvation of souls. So by the end of his second year at Notre Dame, he had accepted God’s call to the priesthood with a firm “Yes!” In time, he further discerned a call to the religious life.

Pray For A Fruitful Mission!

Please pray for the success of the Year of St. Joseph Mission, both individually and as a group or parish. If we pray and fast for the fruitfulness of the mission in the minds and hearts of the faithful in our diocese, the Holy Spirit will do the rest!

Novena to St. Joseph

O Glorious St. Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, to you do we raise our hearts and hands to implore your powerful intercession in obtaining from the Merciful Heart of Jesus all the helps and graces necessary for our spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death, and the special favors we now implore… [mention your special intention].

O Chaste Guardian of Jesus Christ, The Word Incarnate, we have great confidence that your prayers on our behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God.

Glorious St. Joseph, through the love you bore toward Jesus Christ and for the glory of His name, R. Hear our prayers and obtain our petitions.

-Let us pray-

O Glorious St. Joseph, Spouse of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, help us to be pure, humble and charitable in body, mind and soul, and to have perfect resignation to the Divine Will. Be our guide, our father and our model through life, that we may merit to die in the arms of Jesus and Mary as you did.

St. Joseph, friend of the Sacred Heart, pray for us!

“Saint Joseph, our father and lord, is a teacher of the interior life. Place yourself under his patronage and you’ll feel the effectiveness of his power.”
